'Tempest' was originally written in the Spring of 1989, in Ascuncion, Paraguay. I had always liked it so when I took up my guitar again it was the obvious song to tackle. This version has a lot of thunder in it because that was my son, John's, favorite part.
lyrics
Its raining again
And her eyes are the sea
Like an ocean in the wind
Tempest and tossed, but still free
This evening howls, the wind’s in her hair
The grey fades into… black
And all that I can see is the light
Alive in her eyes.
Tempest
Tempest
I run through the house, I run through the streets
I run through the alleys where men meet
Into the hills, the higher ground
I’ve got to escape this town, I’ve got to escape this town
I’ve got to escape this Tempest
Tempest
Tempest
Tempest
The rain has stopped its fall
And the water, like diamond on her skin
And though this darkness is fading, fast
I’ll always remember where we’ve been.
